Canyamel
Canyamel, small tourist resort next to a beautiful sandy beach.
Update 02/02/23. Canyamel is a small beach front resort south of the town of Capdepera. It is also close to the village communities of Cala Ratjada, Arta and Son Servera. The beach is considered by many to be the main attraction to be the town's most appealing attraction, No doubt this is due to it being not too crowded yet conversely one of the pretties golden white sand beaches on the lovely sunny Mediterranean island of Mallorca.
Canyamel is perfect for visitors who want to get away from it all. For those wishing to do precisely that by hiking or by pedal power there are bicycles to be hired. Clearly, many like to spend their sunny days or part of them just messing about on the beach; why not. It would be difficult to imagine anywhere better placed. For those who prefer to be active there are water sports. Naturally, this being a Mediterranean location there are plenty of opportunities for golfing too.
When you are enjoying the beach you will notice a natural 'pond' known as N'Anyana. This attractive water feature is to be seen at the small and safe estuary of the river. It is a place of considerable ecological importance. Here, at this watery location, a number of migratory birds make it their home. Indeed, these migratory fowl were the area's first tourists. They like it here, they keep returning, so will you.
Other attractions not to be missed when visiting Canyamel are the caves of Arta. Here, there are many impressive creations of nature. The town itself is a lovely place to relax and people watch, perhaps from one of the street cafés. Many enjoy life al fresco here. The most prominent of the local buildings is the Tower of Canyamel. This square tower was originally a defensive citadel and almost certainly of Muslim origin. The Muslims too settled in a place of considerable heritage. Here have been discovered artefacts and Talayióticos artefacts of pre-history.

The town of Canyamel is located east of Mallorca. From Artà, take the Ma-4042 road. Capdepera or Cala Millor are other nearby locations.
