Colonia de Sant Pere
Colonia de Sant Pere, an old fishing village where its maritime promenade and marina stand out.
Colonia de Sant Pere belongs to the municipality of Arta and is close to other coastal towns such as Son Serra de Marina or Betlem.
La Colonia is an attractive summer resort restful for its tranquillity and absence of crowds. It is to be found in the bay of Alcudia in the island's north-east region. It is a small urbanised gently community whose residents are both local and incomers. Easy on the eye as the town is easy on the pocket the buildings tends towards being low-rise single-family homes. Many of these are holiday homes. Clear evidence that this is somewhere that people like returning to time after time.
An attractive summer resort, La Colonia is highly regarded for its serenity. Don't expect to find yourself elbow to elbow with milling crowds. There aren't any in La Colonia. These is much that is scenic and much else worth visiting. The locations we recommend are to be found at Corporal Farruch, Betlem and the natural park of Sierra de Levante. The latter makes an interesting point of departure for visitor who like their interesting sea excursions. For this purpose visit the Marina Yacht Club Colonia de Sant Pere. Here, there are to be found excursions for the nearby island of Menorca.
There is a plentiful choice of eclectic eateries, bistros, wine bars, cafés and restaurant. There are shops but they are not a feature of the town thought they do of course cater for both local and visitors needs.
We recommend visiting Ermita de Betlem which is situated in the mountains of Arta. There is to be wondered at the ancient lands of the former estates of Binialgorfa. There is too the oratory of Sant Pere and the Dolmen of S'Aigua Dolça. These two interesting architectural features are located in the area of Es Canons, between the Colony of San Pedro and urbanization of Betlem. This is a prehistoric construction that is known as the Dolmen place of burial.
