Can Picafort
Can Picafort, old fishing village in the Bay of Alcudia.
Update 02/02/23. Can Picafort is a picturesque coastal fishing and tourist town in the municipality of Santa Margalida. Facing the bay of Alcudia, Can Picafort lies north-east of Palma de Mallorca. The small number of visitors who dropped by during the early 1970s found Can Picafort to be a small fishing village with just 200 inhabitants.
Such was the town's appeal that it was perfectly natural for it to become, over time, an important Mallorcan tourist resort. In fact, the town of Can Picafort now with many hotels and other accommodation options, is now one of the main tourist lures of this lovely sun-kissed island. To meet demand there is a wide choice of restaurants, cafés, shops and stalls. One will not look very hard for the many places of entertainment.
The nearby district of Son Baulo is celebrated as a small protected area. Here you can enjoy local fauna and perhaps engage with the local wildlife. If your presence is discreet, who knows, you may be a silent observer of turtles, red pheasants, hares, rabbits, weasels, dormice and Algerian hedgehogs.
For those whose interests are then rather than now this is also the place to discover and browse important archaeological excavations. It is delightfully sobering to imagine yourself back in time. The history of the surrounding areas goes back to the Roman period. Of course, one can presume that one way or another, back then as now, there were many visitors to these idyllic beaches.

How to arrive:
The town of Can Picafort is located southeast of Mallorca in the Bay of Alcudia. From the Puerto de Alcudia to Can Picafort bordering the bay, take the Ma-12 road.
