The Tower of Albarca or des Matzocs is located in the natural park of the Peninsula del Llevant, Arta.

Update 09/02/23. The Tower of Albarca is located in the municipality of Artà 12 km from its urban center.

The Tower of Albarca or des Matzocs is a defense tower built in 1751 to guard the maritime area between Mallorca and Menorca since in those times the neighboring island of Menorca was occupied by the British.

The Tower of Albarca is part of the chain of surveillance points that surrounded the entire island of Mallorca. Before any incursion from here it was possible to give notice quickly.

The Torre de Albarca is located east of the coast of Mallorca within the natural park of the Peninsula del Llevant.

The environment where this tower of defense is located is of great landscape value, numerous mountains, valleys, virgin beaches, Mediterranean forest, a wonderful place to explore.

"From the Torre de Albarca normally in the distance you can see the island of Menorca."

The Tower of Albarca is a circular building with two floors and is in very good condition. It is possible to access and climb up to the deck where one of the cannons that the tower had is still located.

From the deck the views are unbeatable and you can see the island of Menorca. It has currently been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest.

Near the Torre de Albarca there are the virgin beaches of Cala Matzoc, Cala Mitjana or Cala Torta.

How to arrive:

The Tower of Albarca or des Matzocs is located on the Peninsula del Llevant in Artá. There are several itineraries in the natural park that lead to the tower. From Cala Torta there is a path close to the sea to the Tower. The tower is easy to locate since it is in front of a small islet.
