Monastery of Lluc
Monastery of Lluc, a 17th century sanctuary located in the Sierra de Tramuntana.
Update 05/02/20. This Renaissance period sanctuary of the seventeenth century in situated in the municipality of Escorca. Set at an altitude of about 400 meters it overlooks and is part of the vales of the Sierra Tramuntana mountain range.
The religious sanctuary is the perfect location from which you can enjoy beautiful landscapes and superb views.The monastery is the most important place of pilgrimage on the island of Mallorca.
It is dedicated to the Virgin of Lluc. The Gothic image of the fourteenth century is where the patron saint of Mallorca is venerated. In the monastery, and still in use, are the cells for spiritual reflection and learning. It is recommended that you visit the museum.
The exhibits include artefacts of the Talayotic (ancient ruins) period, liturgical ornaments, and ceramics and there is an exhibition of contemporary painting and sculpture. We must emphasize the exceptional beauty and interesting botanical gardens surrounding the monastery.
Here is a place of repose for those of spiritual persuasion or reflective mood. In the garden one can find over two hundred types of wild plants that are unique to this valley. In them is mirrored the fauna and flora beauty of this paradisiac location.
