Bellver Castle

Bellver Castle, 14th century building
Update 09/02/23. The Bellver castle was built in Palma during the early 14th Century on behalf of King James ll of Mallorca. It is an impressive circular-built Gothic citadel.
Now home to The History Museum of the city of Palma, it is open to the public. Visits are recommended.
The Bellver castle is, or rather was, a community. For this reason it served many purposes throughout its 700 year history.
Initially the residence of its regal builder, it was later home to Sancho and Jaime lll among other kings throughout these periods.

The Bellver castle has withstood many onslaughts and sieges. It has throughout the ages served as a prison. Its purpose today is far more peaceful.
It is favored by many locals and visitors as the perfect setting for weddings, concerts, civic occasions and exhibitions.

Bellver Castle is located near the seafront of Palma, the road to the castle part of the important Joan Miró Avenue.
