Formerly in the place that occupies the temple there was a cross of term called Creu d'en Net. According to the tradition the cross had healing properties. With the passage of time, the population of Mallorca became aware of the fact, and many devotees came to visit the cross in search of a miracle.
Such was the popularity of the cross that the construction of the temple was planned in 1722. The cross is located inside the temple of the Oratory of the Holy Cross of Porreres and can currently be visited by the public.
