Update 09/02/23. The Sa Cova Tancada excursion takes place in the mountainous area that divides the bays of Pollensa and Alcudia in the municipality of Alcudia. In this mountainous area there are many itineraries for hikers, all of them very well marked. Other outstanding excursions in the area are the ascent to the Watchtower of Alcudia or the route to the beach of Coll Baix.
Sa Cova Tancada is located in the Cabo de Menorca in the bay of Alcudia. The cave has access to 10 meters above sea level and presents numerous calcareous formations.
The tour of the cave is about 250m approximately and goes through several cameras where the main one has some more than 10 meters high. The beauty of Sa Cova Tancada is comparable in all its route to other famous caves of the island conditioned for the visit of the public.

The route that leads to Sa Cova Tancada goes through a mountainous area with medium difficulty in most of its route and in the end it increases the difficulty since you have to go down a rocky area with a steep slope.

The area where Sa Cova Tancada is located presents different itineraries , the easiest one has its beginning halfway towards the Coll Baix beach.
At the beginning, it goes up a fairly wide path, normally closed with a chain. After about 30 minutes when the descent begins and you can see the sea you must continue on a narrow path located on the left. The next 30 minutes are almost always downhill and finally you reach Sa Cova Tancada.
To make the excursion to Sa Cova Tancada it is necessary to wear good shoes, flashlight and go in a group, it is not an advisable excursion for children under 12 years. If you make the excursion in summer you can swim in front of the cave you have to be careful that it is a rocky area and the entry and exit to the sea is difficult.

How to arrive:
From Alcudia you should take Xara street towards the residential area Mal Pas or Bonaire, at the entrance of the residential area take the first deviation to the right in the direction of Coll Baix and go straight on. Once inside the forest, after a few kilometres you will see on the right a small path closed with a chain, it is the access to the Sa Cova Tancada route.
