Puig de Randa
Excursion to Puig de Randa, Algaida. Distance 10km, time 2:30h, easy.
Update 14/02/23. The Puig de Randa is located in the municipality of Algaida, it is a mountain of 543 meters high. At the foot of the mountain there is a small urban center called Randa. In the middle part of the mountain there are two sanctuaries; the Sanctuary of Gracia that dates from the 16th century and the hermitage of San Honorat from the 14th century. At the top of the Puig de Randa is located the Sanctuary of Cura.
The Sanctuary of Cura has a church, a monastery, an old building that served as a school and a restaurant bar. The Sanctuary of Cura during the 14th century was consolidated as a religious space.

A perfect place to start the tour to the Puig de Randa is the Randa parking area. Much of the climb can be done by trails between pine forests and areas without high vegetation.
Halfway up the ascent you get to the first two Sanctuaries, the Sanctuary of Gracia and the hermitage of San Honorat, both sanctuaries allow public visits. From here the views are impressive but there is still the second part of the ascent.

The second part of the ascent to the Puig de Randa, from the two Sanctuaries in the middle zone to the top, alternates asphalt road and trails. At the top we can enjoy incredible views of almost all points of the island, in fact the Puig de Randa is the highest mountain located in the central part of the island. Here we find the Sanctuary of Cura with all its religious history.
The urban center of Randa, departure point of this excursion is 5.1 km from Algaida and 6 from Llucmajor.

How to arrive:
The Puig de Randa is located in the central part of Mallorca, near the town of Algaida. Take the Ma-5010 road that connects the towns of Algaida and Llucmajor. Later you will see the exit to Puig de Randa.
