Puig de Sa Rateta
Excursion to Puig de Sa Rateta from the Gorg de Cúber. Distance 9km, total time 5:00h, maximum height 1110 meters, medium-high difficulty.
Update 12/02/23. A good point to start the excursion to Puig de Sa Rateta is from the parking area located near the reservoir of Cúber. This reservoir is located in the Sierra de Tramuntana next to the road that ascends the Puig Major.
In the first section we skirt the reservoir of Cúber by a flat path to the dam. From the dam in southwest direction we can see the top of the mountain to which we are going.

Just before reaching the dam we will take a quite visible path that is on the left. Further on, the path descends until crossing the stream d'Aumedrá. From this point we will start the climb next to the water channeling of the Cúber reservoir.
Further on, we will reach an esplanade with several large concrete pipes. From this point we will turn to the right and continue westwards along the path used by the "navaters".

From this point the road is not very well defined and the top is at 1:30h. Near the summit we will pass by the remains of an old snow house.
From the top of the Puig de Sa Rateta the views are impressive and we can see the Cúber reservoir and the Gorg Blau with the Puig Major in the background.
The Puig de Sa Rateta is located next to two other peaks over 1000 meters high, Puig de na Franquesa and Puig de l'Ofre.
How to arrive:
The excursion to Puig de Sa Rateta starts from the parking area located in the vicinity of the Cúber reservoir. The Ma-10 road that connects Escorca with Soller passes next to the Cúber reservoir.
