Update 09/02/23. The excursion to Puig de Sant Martí is one of the many itineraries that we find in the municipality of Alcudia for hikers.
The Puig de Sant Martí is a mountain of 266 meters high located in a mountainous area near Alcudia and Puerto Alcudia. It is well known for the practice of flights in Paragliding and Hang Gliding.
The small mountain takes the name of Sant Martí from a cave located nearby where the early Christians met clandestinely when even their religion was prohibited. In this cave is a small oratory closed to the public and which is open at special events.

The area where Puig de Sant Martí is located presents a thick pine grove. As you climb the mountain the tall vegetation decreases and becomes bushes.
On the excursion to Puig de Sant Martí a good place to start the hiking route is the parking area that we found shortly after entering the forest area from the main road Alcudia - Palma.

The first part of the route runs through flat area, where the pines provide plenty of shade. After 1.5km the climb starts with a steep slope.
At the top we can enjoy breathtaking views of the bay of Alcudia and Pollensa. The view to the port of Alcudia is striking, an almost aerial view.
The excursion to Puig de Sant Martí can be done on foot, by bicycle or by car. It is an excursion suitable for small children. The only precaution is to bring plenty of water on hot days since there is hardly any shade to protect from the sun.

How to arrive:
The Puig de Sant Martí is located in Alcudia. Arriving in Alcudia from Palma on the Ma-13, between the first two roundabouts there is an unpaved road that leads to the Puig de Sant Martí. A few meters after taking the detour there is an area where you can park.
